GEOFF AND MICHAEL INSPECTING BRUSHED ALUMINIUM
ROUTERED ON THE EUROLASER.
Hi Aaron,
NEW LASER – HANDLING ALL THE CHALLENGES!
In my e-newsletter before Christmas I asked for some challenging
projects that would help us to learn more about our new Eurolaser.
And we certainly got them!
Michael and I are still trying to find out just what the Eurolaser is capable of with combinations of laser cutting, routing and laser etching.
The big deal for us is that we can use the router tool on the Eurolaser to
cut PVC, ACM and MDF components which our customers have had to
cut elsewhere. The photo above shows us inspecting some brushed ACM
aluminium lettering router cut on the Eurolaser. As you can see it all
worked perfectly.
“CAFÉ” SIGN – LASER CUT & ROUTERED
The first real challenge we had from a customer was the apparently simple
task of supplying a big “CAFÉ” sign in acrylic, laser cut from 25mm sheets
and routered (hollowed out) to take LED lights inside each letter. The front
of the sign is polished copper; also laser cut by us and with the internal
lights looks very impressive.
And it all worked … Brilliant result from a signage point of view and a sealed display unit that will last a life time! Imagine having to construct that using other technologies, it would be just about impossible to do as a one-off item. For us a simple design program change and letters or symbols can be laser cut and etched ready for our sign manufacturing customers to add to their displays.
LASER ETCHING ON STAINLESS STEEL
Next up in challenges for our Eurolaser was the laser etched attribution
plaque for a spectacular sculpture. This only touches the details our laser
is capable of and images of near print quality are possible.
A street number sign above, that really stands out is again etched
stainless steel. The black finish to the letters is a natural part of the etching
process and will never need to be painted.
Now we are looking for a challenge in laser etching glass – we have been
told that a design or images etched on glass have an almost 3D effect and
can’t wait for a real job to try it on. Unfortunately one of the few things our
lasers won’t cut is glass. Etching YES….. Cutting NO!
An image of smart people striding across a big shop window comes to
mind!!
ROUTERING / LASER CUTTING SOLID OAK
The routering of the lettering on the solid oak recreation park sign below
worked well and will last a lifetime. The cut out letters stand out well in all
weathers and will never need painting.
LASER ETCHING DRINK COASTER SET
The coaster set above was laser etched on clear acrylic and laser cut with
a serrated edge, just like a coin.
ROUTERING / LASER CUTTING UNIT MAILBOXES
The image shows the routering process in action on sequentially
numbered mailbox doors which are being installed in a block of Units. The
Unit number is routered to half the depth of the material and the slot for
post and keyhole are cut right through.
LAWS LASER – VERSATILITY
One of the things I am most proud of is our versatility. We can handle
almost anything! The three lasers we have are designed to handle
different cutting jobs and materials, literally from sheet steel to fabric.
- Laser 1: Specialised in metal cutting with a maximum sheet size of
3000 x 1500mm.
- Laser 2: Suitable for thick timbers, plastics and metal with a
maximum sheet size of 3000 x 1500mm.
- Laser 3: Suitable to a wide range of materials and capable of
cutting, etching and routing with a maximum sheet size of 3000 x
2000mm.

Decorative screens, sculpted wall designs, commercial kitchen
equipment, sign components, stencils and urban & street art. From the
very small to absolutely massive, if it fits on our lasers we can cut it.
Why not challenge us…
If you have a design or an idea that involves Laser Cutting, Routering and
Etching, we would love to give it a try. A new product or a current one, we
may be able to do what you thought was previously impossible, or provide
a current component quicker or better than you can now.
